Skills, Smells and Spells: The Technicalities

The common theme that runs through my work is keep it simple. Let the images do the talking. As such all photographs are composed and framed in camera at the time of taking.

I use an old Nikkormat camera, variations of which were built by Nikon between 1965 and 1978. My first one was given to me by my parents for my sixteenth birthday and I tend to have to replace them every three or four years.

The lens I use is a 24mm Soligor. I appropriated – stole – this from my father early on and, apart from very occasionally using a 50mm, it is all I use.

The film is Kodak T-Max 400. I develop it with Kodak HC-110.

The paper is Fomatone Nature 532-II, developed with Agfa Neutol WA.

Framing was done by Supaframes in Tooting, 020 8767 0999

Please do ask If you have any questions at all. You can find my details on my website or pick up a card from the desk. Better still ask me in person if I am here…
