West of the Sun at Signet Contemporary Art

West of the Sun at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery. Personal I-Phone image by Toby Deveson. November 2016There really is very little I can say about the exhibition at Signet Contemporary Art. Apart from the fact that it is all a blur. Handing over the curating and handling of events to Katrina, Alina and the rest of the team at Predella House made my life incredibly easy.

All I had to do was deliver the work on the morning of the hang. Katrina placed the frames where she wanted them, and I hung them. Easy.

The Private view was a model of professionalism. The attention to detail was superb, with a wonderful selection of drinks and an amazing turnout. The gallery was absolutely packed over all three floors with an incredible selection of people. All of the team had done their homework about the images and techniques and as a result their networking and informative conversation (and, let’s face it, salesmanship) was a joy to behold…

Once again, following on from the success of the screening of From Dark to Light and Q&A, I am left in no doubt that my love for exhibiting and talking about my work is highly addictive – and crucial.

Having so much of my work – old and new – on display in such a wonderful, light and vibrant gallery was a huge ego boost – something every artist needs to experience in order to keep going through the dark hours alone in their studio.

Signet Contemporary Art is such a wonderful gallery, over three floors, in which Katrina and I managed to hang over 40 images without it feeling cramped at all. I say ‘Katrina and I’…it was of course thanks mainly down to Katrina’s curatorial skills.

I am already looking forward to the next one…
