Book
West of the Sun
As a photographer it’s as if I am driven by an invisible energy, forever searching and feeling as if that perfect image is just out of reach, beyond the horizon and to the west of the sun.
Haruki Murakami is amongst my favourite authors – a poet and genius with words. So it was no surprise to me when his book ‘South of the Border, West of the Sun’ inspired the concept behind my own book. When he spoke of hysteria syberiana, the need to overtake the sun in search of an elusive something, I knew I had found the perfect glue with which to bind my landscapes.
The design is now complete but I intend to continue travelling and taking photographs before printing the book. I will then tour an exhibition around Britain and Europe, giving talks and Q&A sessions with local photography groups and schools. I am also in the process of applying for an Arts Council Grant to help with the funding.
