Exhibition with The North London Darkroom

Back in October I pledged some money to The North London Darkroom (NLD) Crowdfunding campaign. Their goal was to launch their annual programme of exhibitions as well as print and publish the very first issue of their photo-zine ‘GRAIN’.

Regular members of the NLD will also be exhibiting alongside the competition winners. They are: Tim Bradshaw, Carolyn Chapman, Jolanta Dolewska, Jonathan Duckworth, Sebastian Edge, Gabriel Vigo, Vish Vishvanath and Tereza Zelenkova.

I am extremely excited and pleased to be able to announce that two of my landscapes will be included in the show.

The launch/private view will be on the 5th of December 2013 at The Rag Factory on 16-18 Heneage St, London, E1 5LJ, between 6 & 9pm. It is easily accessible from Aldgate East, Shoreditch High Street and Liverpool Street train stations. Everyone is welcome and there will be drinks (suggested donation of £1) and a chocolate fountain.

The show will run for a further 6 days and during this time they will run a series of events and talks discussing the role of analogue photography in the digital age.

Below is the blurb from their website.

The North London Darkroom was launched in May 2012 by Sebastian Edge, for ten practicing photographers to share a special place to work from. The NLD members specifically produce black and white photographic darkroom prints, keeping analogue photography and processes alive. The Darkroom supports them with specialist equipment and facilities, which are increasingly becoming rare, expensive and sort after.

North London Darkroom photographers vary, practicing in different fields, spanning from music, documentary and portrait to graphic and fine art. They all, however, make prints to a high archival grade. Lead by the founder of the North London Darkroom, Sebastian Edge, who has constructed his third Darkroom and continues practicing with the ‘art of darkness’ in his own work. With support from paper conservationists and fellow members, Sebastian constructed the Darkroom from machinery donated by The National Gallery and Kings College University.

The Darkroom provides an affordable space for photographers to produce large or small, carefully managed, wet process prints. With a fixed monthly membership fee, NLD members can make use of all the facilities and resources available as well as benefit from being part of a specific collective of highly skilled photographers and printers.

Please visit their Facebook page if you’d like more information.

I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible…
